Classes at the Opportunity House in Hendersonville are on Tuesday’s from 1 – 4. It is an eight week course that is $70 for members and $85 for non-members. It’s a fairly casual class with brand new beginners, intermediate and advanced (I still have some of my students from over 9 years ago), so it’s a diverse group with each person working on their own project according to their own skill level with help from a professional instructor when needed. If you’re new to stained glass you’ll get one-on-one individualized instruction starting with a couple of beginner projects and then you’ll be able to choose projects from our pattern supply, pattern books or off the internet. It’s a fun and addictive craft that I myself learned at the OP House over 25 years ago!
In this week long intensive class, you will learn classic stained glass techniques in the copper-foil method, made popular by Tiffany, with a modern twist for today's contemporary designs. Discover how to cut and fit glass, and then foil, solder, patina, and finish your own projects. A choice of patterns and a wide variety of colors and textures of glass will be available. It's addictive! Beginners to intermediates welcome. Students work in a non-competitive setting and the progress that is made during the week is amazing. The atmosphere here is like summer camp only for "Big" kids!
